I've made it down to the selection of 60 candidates from almost 700 for the Castlegate Prize!. Just got to wait to see if I get down to the 30 that will be exhibited now! Buoyed by that news I am working on a piece for consideration in the Townhouse Summer Exhibition. Not to mention a couple of pieces for the second Brixton Summer Art Show [can't find a a link to this years].
Also, I am pleased to say that the Urban Art Fair in Brixton will go ahead this year after all. On the weekend of July 4th and 5th. So I will be bringing some paintings, photographs, monoprints and possibly some linocuts, plus anything else I find time to make before then, to Josephine Avenue.

Popped down to the Private View of Estate [featuring works by David Hepher, Jock McFadyen and Keith Coventry] on Friday at Turps Gallery [this photo is from their Instagram feed, so if anyone objects please say and I'll remove it]. It's a ridiculously difficult place to find, especially in the dark. It would have helped if I knew that Taplow House is one of the blocks on the Aylesbury Estate, the subject of many of Hepher's works, and that the gallery isn't on the ground floor. Anyway, as you can see, it was popular. There was only one piece from each artists and only David Hepher's was easily visible, as you can see. I think I managed to spot each artist though. Three RA's on an Elephant and Castle council estate! I'm over by the stairs by the way.
I finished five new mixed media works on 24" x 20" wood panels during January, which I hope will do well in various competitions to be exhibited around the country. More of that later.
