This year's Urban Art Fair has kicked off. No sunny street camaraderie for the artists this year though. We are all online socially distanced but artistically united. It is mostly happening on Instagram and twitter but some artists have open studios. Follow the #urbanartbrixton and #artistsupportpledge hashtags to find something new for your home/office

I'm not sure when, but it looks as though the Townhouse Open 2020 exhibition will go ahead and my submission "Woven In Time" will be included. It was originally penned in to run from June to September but dates cannot be confirmed just yet due to current Covid-19 restrictions.
I can add getting no further in Castlegate Prize to my Summer Exhibition fail. I'm now going for the Townhouse Summer Open and hoping that the Urban Art Fair can still go ahead in July. I can't imagine being in lockdown that long but if we need to we'll have to! And there is still the Brixton Summer Art Show as well. Hopefully that will still go ahead and these two will get selected.
I've made it down to the selection of 60 candidates from almost 700 for the Castlegate Prize!. Just got to wait to see if I get down to the 30 that will be exhibited now! Buoyed by that news I am working on a piece for consideration in the Townhouse Summer Exhibition. Not to mention a couple of pieces for the second Brixton Summer Art Show [can't find a a link to this years].
Also, I am pleased to say that the Urban Art Fair in Brixton will go ahead this year after all. On the weekend of July 4th and 5th. So I will be bringing some paintings, photographs, monoprints and possibly some linocuts, plus anything else I find time to make before then, to Josephine Avenue. |
