Just over 2.5 hours to hang 18 paintings. One useless spirit level and some unplanned for cable lengths but we got there. Might look a little wonky in parts [if you look too hard] but it'll be fine. Just need Brixton Brewery to get their delivery here on time for the drinks on Thursday evening now! One of the quirks of having an exhibition in a library space is you may have to share the room at times. Opening day is one of those times. There will be a bazaar being held on the 14th, so if you visit you might also pick up a bargain of some sort. So I won't be invigilating tomorrow as I will only get in the way.

I am currently frantically working towards my first solo show of paintings, to be held at Brixton Tate Library from September 14th - 25th, entitled Dante's Car Park. It will consist of the nine paintings I have/am making representing the 9 Circles of Hell supported by the 9 smaller works in my "Ugly Beautiful" series [that may get a better name before the show opens]. I hope to also include my Brixton Art Prize shortlisted "Where We Used to Live".. There will be a Private View on the evening of the 15th.
Not that I expected to win. It was an honour to make the 36 strong shortlist out of 723 entries from around the world and the quality of the shortlisted work was very high. It was a great evening too. Congratulations to the overall winner, Harumi Tanaka, one of the few artist I was already following on Instagram. I'm looking forward to next years already.
Some of the more observant among you may have noticed that I have subtly been streamlining this site to separate my prints from the more serious aspect of painting and who knows maybe more three dimensional work. So, all of my photography and prints are now available through Etsy and will be drop-shipped directly from The Printspace. I am working on a catalogue, a link to which is at the bottom of the home page. I just need to make live links to the individual works on Etsy now. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1st - 3rd July

Also, the artists drinks at the Townhouse and I hope there will be some sort of celebration at the Tate Library as well. I'm sure we can turn my Urban Art fair pitch into some sort of street party again this year too. |
