A week from now Martyn Woods and I will be setting up shop at Boxpark, Shoreditch for out inaugral gallery pop-up. Initially showing just our own work it is hoped that we will continue to grow a roster of artists and pop-up in various places in and around London. You will find us at Unit 15 on Bethnal Green Road. We open the doors at 11:00am on Tuesday 4th April and there will be drinks to celebrate from 5:00pm on Wednesday 5th. We now have a website live and an Instagram account.

Over a month without an update! How did that happen. Probably because I have been painting and there have been lots of of domestic things to deal with: Electricians, refits and decorating plans.. My Boxpark pop-up with Martyn Woods is just over two weeks away and I have 15 paintings for that on the go and three more to start on. They are all loosely based around a grid derived from doors of a shipping container. Boxpark is called that after the nickname for shipping ports and is constructed out of repurposed shipping containers. So it seemed kind of fitting to use them as a theme. The one above is one of 10 6" cradled wood panels [50mm deep] that can be displayed stacked in a shipping container stylee or just hung alone in a more traditional way. I also have four 12" panels and two each of 16" and 20" sizes . I may well take some other work too, after we are open. The black and white chevrons are a nod to Boxpark's branding. Anyway, can't stop... There's a deadline looming and there's plenty of shop admin to do as well as the painting.
Next up, is my gallery/shop/pop-up collaboration with Martyn Woods at Boxpark, Shoreditch. We will be in situ from April 3rd - 9th. We will be showing/selling our own work this time round but if the exercise is a success may branch out into curating other shows elsewhere.
I am currently working on some ideas that may be in the show which you can see below. I am also working on an entry to this years Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy and about to start on some works on paper that I'm going to submit to the Blue Shop Cottage open call. Just over 2.5 hours to hang 18 paintings. One useless spirit level and some unplanned for cable lengths but we got there. Might look a little wonky in parts [if you look too hard] but it'll be fine. Just need Brixton Brewery to get their delivery here on time for the drinks on Thursday evening now! One of the quirks of having an exhibition in a library space is you may have to share the room at times. Opening day is one of those times. There will be a bazaar being held on the 14th, so if you visit you might also pick up a bargain of some sort. So I won't be invigilating tomorrow as I will only get in the way.
I am currently frantically working towards my first solo show of paintings, to be held at Brixton Tate Library from September 14th - 25th, entitled Dante's Car Park. It will consist of the nine paintings I have/am making representing the 9 Circles of Hell supported by the 9 smaller works in my "Ugly Beautiful" series [that may get a better name before the show opens]. I hope to also include my Brixton Art Prize shortlisted "Where We Used to Live".. There will be a Private View on the evening of the 15th.
