Urban Art Brixton Is [Virtually] Underway

This year's Urban Art Fair has kicked off. No sunny street camaraderie for the artists this year though. We are all online socially distanced but artistically united. It is mostly happening on Instagram and twitter but some artists have open studios. Follow the #urbanartbrixton and #artistsupportpledge hashtags to find something new for your home/office

Can You Spot Me?

Popped down to the Private View of Estate [featuring works by David Hepher, Jock McFadyen and Keith Coventry] on Friday at Turps Gallery [this photo is from their Instagram feed, so if anyone objects please say and I'll remove it]. It's a ridiculously difficult place to find, especially in the dark. It would have helped if I knew that Taplow House is one of the blocks on the Aylesbury Estate, the subject of many of Hepher's works, and that the gallery isn't on the ground floor. Anyway, as you can see, it was popular. There was only one piece from each artists and only David Hepher's was easily visible, as you can see. I think I managed to spot each artist though. Three RA's on an Elephant and Castle council estate! I'm over by the stairs by the way.

Not exactly news, as I didn't really expect to, but I didn't get through the first stage of judging for this years Summer Exhibition. I submitted It's Already Too Late and It's Hard To Be Alone. I'm not sure that my photos were particularly good for submission purposes but it ended up being a bit last minute. These are better but they probably just didn't like them eh?

I was consoled to find that Chloe Lamb [whose work I admire] has followed me on Instagram and liked some of my work.

Thank you to The Nine gallery for taking the time to tell me about Jeremy Gardiner's work today. I'm really pleased with my catalogue but it's not the same as seeing the works in all their textural glory!
