I've submitted these two to a couple of Open Calls. Wish them luck! The first one is for the Exeter Contemporary and the second for the Royal West Academy in Bristol.

Copper Transition II Goes To London

Copper Transition II by Steve Wilde
I dropped Copper Transition off the weekend before last while I was in London for the Wide Awake Festival in Brockwell Park. I realise I've still not sent out a newsletter but aside from the London trip I have also been to Bournemouth, to see Scissor Sisters and three days of the Great Estate Festival back in Cornwall. Much travelling and "refreshments" have not been conducive to newsletter writing.

Various Deconstructs

I really must get round to sending a newsletter out. I 've been meaning to since the beginning of the year! At the moment I'm creating some "hextychs" [if they're such a thing], Sets of six canvases or wooden panels joined together to form deconstructed cubes. But I want to start creating the shapes, that constitute this Soma Cube that I made, on a large enough scale to be stackable floor sculptures. But that's not likely to happen in my studio at home due to space limitations, but I can dream.

SOLD

I'm happy to say that Right To Roam [see picture here] was sold at the St. Ives Arts Club Easter Exhibition this week. It's the first sale of the year now that some exhibitions are coming up, which is encouraging. I'm concentrating on some experimental three dimensional pieces at the moment like this piece. Whether I will be able to get any of them selected for any open calls or not I'm not sure.

Spring/Easter Shows

The first two of the 2025 shows are almost upon us., Both kicking off on April 5th. The Penzance Studios Spring Exhibition runs until April 26th and the St. Ives Arts Club Easter Exhibition runs until the 18th. Finishing just in time for Easter to start!

I've entered a mixture of  work for the Penzance show at Wharfside Art Hub, so I'm not convinced it will all get in but you need to get the experiments out in the wild. Not that it is easy to get visitors opinions of work during group shows. I will be invigilating on two afternoons at both exhibitions though, so I could interrogate anyone that wanders in during those hours.
I'll be at the Wharfside Art Hub on the 7th and 14th between 14.00 - 1 7..00 and at the St. Ives Arts Club on the 9th and 16th between 13.30 - 16.30.
